Port Union Cares (PUC) is a non-denominational group of concerned citizens from the Port Union area of Scarborough who have been moved to act. We came together to form a private sponsorship group in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, motivated by a common understanding that refugees are ordinary people facing extraordinary struggle. Our goal is simple: to sponsor a family fleeing conflict and persecution and help them resettle in Canada.
Currently we are sponsoring a Syrian family of four who arrived in May, 2016. Sadly, the parents and their two children received insufficient support from their original sponsors so Port Union Cares assumed the sponsorship responsibilities. In the meantime, our fundraising efforts are ongoing, both to support this family, as well as others in need of sponsorship.
There are many ways you can help. Please consider joining us by making a donation, participating in a fundraising event, or volunteering your time or skills. The need is great. Working together as a community, we can provide refugees with a new home and renewed hope. Let’s show those in need that, truly, PORT UNION CARES!
