Port Union Cares (PUC) is a non-denominational group of compassionate citizens from the Port Union area of Scarborough who have been moved to act. We came together to form a private sponsorship group in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, motivated by a common understanding that refugees are ordinary people facing extraordinary struggle. Our goal is simple: to sponsor families fleeing conflict and persecution and help them resettle in Canada.
We have already helped settle a Syrian and Eritrean family. We are currently settling our third family, from Afghanistan, with the support of their cousins here. You can read about our journey in our News and Events section.
There are many ways you can help. Please consider joining us by making a tax deductible donation through Canada Helps, or by volunteering your time or skills. Working together as a community, we can provide refugees with a new home and renewed hope. Let’s show those in need that, truly, PORT UNION CARES!
